Hebden Hey Scout Centre, owned by Halifax District Scouts nestles in the wooded valley above Hebden Bridge, in Calderdale, West Yorkshire. The centre has two pre-bookable hostels sleeping 44 and 30 as well as two additional daytime indoor rooms available all year round. Twelve camping areas (large and small) all well grassed sites, some more secluded and away from the main buildings. Toilet and shower facilities, a 32' bouldering wall, obstacle course and probably some of the best surrounding countryside amenities of any local campsite, the main activities field adjacent to the hostels is used for a wide variety of activities either provided or your own games/events.
Whilst staying in the hostels, you will cater for yourselves, however, we provide spacious kitchens and dining rooms with all catering equipment and all cutlery & crockery, the dormitory bunk beds are ideal for Cubs, Scouts, Guides as well as other youth groups and adult groups.
The camping areas a open between Easter and the end of October each year, and available to Scout and Guide groups for both overnight camps and longer base camps whilst you can visit the variety of local attractions.
The site itself is very much a living and working centre. We still have much of the site which is undeveloped. These areas are a mixture of natural and planted beech woodland slopes as well as other more open areas. Our boundary adjoins the 400 acre estate of National Trusts' Hardcastle Crags and thus we also have much wildlife on site. The area provides excellent opportunities for hiking and traditional Scout camping as well as a base for excursions to local attractions.
